Wheels and Gears (WAG) completes Brand as a lifestyle magazine. As Brand’s de facto motoring section, WAG involves itself in all things motoring, be it balanced but fair reviews of the latest vehicles locally available, tales of how certain four wheelers were built, how-to’s in order to make your own auto in tiptop shape, takes on the two-wheeler set, and guides on details that car buyers need to know.

WAG answers the needs of car owners, not just enthusiasts.

Independent studies put up by Brand show that auto enthusiasts (defined in said studies as those that purchase more than one auto magazine in a single year) comprise less than 10% of the total auto-owning population. This means that a huge chunk of local auto owners have an inclination for cars, but find auto-centric publications too complex to understand – and would rather read lifestyle media outlets.

In this regard, WAG’s involvement with Brand directly communicates to urban professionals – a large number of which are the target market of automakers, with a need to turn themselves into trendsetters. However, most of them are not so knowledgeable about cars yet are enamored by them. It is this segment that propagates the purpose of a lifestyle-motoring publication team-up in a single media outlet in Brand and Wheels and Gears.
